1 John 2:28-29 ESV

1 John 3:1-3 ESV

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

Reflect

Do you have confidence when you experience God or do you feel shame and shrink back? What kind of love does God have for you to adopt you as a child? This is your confidence. Family members often share similar behaviors and actions. How does your life reflect adoption into the family of God?

Kid Connection

This passage talks about how as children of God we will be like him (righteous and loving). Identify characteristics of each child that are like their mother or father. Then remind them that just as they look or behave like mom or dad, when we are children of God, we will begin to look and act like Him.
