Teaching about Salt and Light
Matthew 5:13-16 NIV
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Vision 2013 – Loving His World
SALT -Salt was a symbol of PURITY -Salt was key for PRESERVING food -Salt was used to add the PIZZAZZ/FLAVOR LIGHT -True knowledge of God (Psalm 36:9) -Knowing where to go (Psalm 119:105) -Goodness, righteousness, truth (Ephesians 5:8,9) -Joy/gladness/true happiness (Psalm 97:11, Isaiah 9:1-7) Note: Jesus did not say we need to BECOME salt or light. He says that, by virtue of having our lives connected to Him, each of us already IS salt & IS light! THAT isn't in question. What IS in question is... ??Will we BE who we ARE?? and ??Will we be who we are "OUT THERE"?? ** Your notes are private and only visible to you.
