What we have been doing is looking at the 4 basic building blocks of who we are at LifeSource. These four are BELIEVE, BELONG, BECOME, and BLESS.

Believe

The one first week we talked about BELIEVE. We are unapologetic that the reason we exist is to make the name of Jesus great. That we are above all else about Jesus. And whether you are a follower of Jesus or just exploring the idea and trying to figure out this whole God thing, that as you come to LifeSource you will see that following the biblical principles that were so much a part of Jesus’ life, if applied in our lives will have tremendous benefits to you and your family. That’s what we believe and that’s what we will try to communicate every time we gather in this building.

Belong

The second week we talked about BELONGing. Our take away last week was that “It is our job to make people comfortable and it is God’s job to make them uncomfortable.” In other words we want to make sure that EVERYONE feels welcomed and that they belong HERE. It’s God’s job to work in all of us to change our hearts.

Become

This brings us to today. Here’s the deal, we are all becoming something. From the moment we are born our life experiences and the challenges we meet begin to form us and shape us.

Tell me this...

What do you want to become?

Don't forget this

“Become” is not about what you want to do, as much as it is about who you want to be.

Here's what Paul says

Romans 12:1-2 ESV

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Here's the context

What is this transforming?

This transforming of the mind is understanding that life is "From Jesus, through Jesus, and to Jesus." That’s what your mind has to wrap itself around... Complete dependance.

Here's what Jesus said

Matthew 18:1-6 ESV

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Not playing around

Entering into this Kingdom that he was talking about rested on you becoming what? A child? Yes, a child. Here’s a question for you? What does a child need from his parents? EVERYTHING. It’s not rocket science... We must be like children... We need to be transformed by understanding that From Him, and for Him, and to Him... ALL things!

What about us as a faith community?

This was part of the question that the staff here at LifeSource asked ourselves a few months ago... What does want LifeSource to become? And the answer was obvious, a faith community that is in complete dependence of God. So the next question was, “What is the next step?”

It's a process

Philippians 1:6 ESV

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Not our job?

Who started it this process? Who will completed? It's not about what we will do, but about who we will become.
