Blessed :: Pastor John Leach
Intro: Welcome all JFC to the series called, “Blessed”
15th year – Fundamentals
The power of words.
Matthew 12:33-37 NIV
"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
1. You decide what the tree is.
Hint: What are you trying to get fruit from in your life? You eat the fruit of your mouth!
Illustration: A child
Tactic in the Old Testament of a captured city: Change the names of the children. The name represented the nature and identity of the thing. Change the name-change the nature or the destiny.
Daniel 1:6 NIV
Among those who were chosen were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
2. Words are life or death
Note: This scripture can make you rich or poor.
Power of the tongue.
Proverbs 18:21 NIV
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Jesus on the power of words:
John 6:63 NKJV
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
3. The most important words in the Bible.
Mark 9:24 (b) “I do believe”
Mark 6:5-6 NIV
He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith. Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.
